1920, the Toyo Cork Kogyo Company, a cork manufacturer, was established in Hiroshima, Japan. This essay does not intend to explain how the corporation transitioned from cork to vehicles. The business debuted the Mazda-Go autorickshaw, a three-wheeled vehicle with a freight carrier on the rear, in 1931.

The business soon changed its name to Mazda to expand the automotive industry. The atomic bomb and World War II, however, stood in the way.

Mazda struggled for a few years until success in the 1950s with compact, four-wheel vehicles. The R360 Coupe, the company’s first passenger automobile, was introduced in 1960. But it remained a relatively minor local player.

The R100 coupe, the first mass-produced, rotary-powered vehicle offered in the United States, was brought to the country by Mazda in 1970. But it wasn’t until 1978 that Mazda established a name for itself with the affordable, entertaining RX-7 coupe. What follows is history.

Mazda goods are becoming fairly well-liked in several international markets. Products with a consistent, premium form vocabulary, cutting-edge lightweight materials, and cutting-edge powertrain technology have helped it find its voice. With 100 years behind it, Mazda’s brightest days could yet be ahead of it.
