About Acura

Honda established Acura as its upscale branch in 1986, focusing on the North American market. Since then, Acura has launched its global character. The Tokyo, Japan-based company’s selling point and the reason why its long-running NSX is still the most affordable option among authentic supercars is that it delivers luxury and performance at an affordable price. Although Acura was the first luxury manufacturer in Japan, the company quickly drew industry copycats by demonstrating that the US was ready for expensive Japanese automobiles, particularly with its popular Legend midsize sedan. Only three years after Acura’s introduction, Nissan and Toyota introduced their respective Infiniti and Lexus luxury brands. By the middle of the 1990s, Honda’s high-end children had lost their distinctive charm.

In the 2000s, Acura began its continuous recovery by introducing several new models to meet the rising demand for big, luxurious cars. These models included the new three-row MDX, RDX, ZDX SUVs, and the TSX wagon. In terms of sheer performance, Acura falls short of European automakers, but the brand is nonetheless consistently high-tech and well-known among luxury cars. A further indication that Honda’s spinoff isn’t done attempting to change its industry is the usage of sport hybrid drivetrains to improve handling and performance.
